"I'd love to get it done in the first" - Jarred Brooks gunning for a quick night at the office against Gustavo Balart
Jarred Brooks is hoping that he will be able to secure the win at ONE Fight Night 24 without the assistance of the judges.
He is set to return in the main event on August 2 at Lumpinee Stadium where he will face one of the few top strawweights that he is yet to compete against.
The interim title will be on the line when he comes up against Gustavo Balart in a clash of two of the best wrestlers in the division.
With Balart being known for his constant pace and pressure, Brooks knows that he will need to meet this head-on when they meet.
Getting a finish in this fight could prove to be vital for 'The Monkey God' in order to avoid going five hard rounds with an opponent like Balart.
He spoke in a recent interview with Sportskeeda MMA about getting his opponent out of there as early as possible:
"I wanna get it done in the first round. The less time I'm in there, the less damage I accumulate and the more shine I can get to get better. So yeah, I'd love to get it done in the first if not the third or the fourth."
Jarred Brooks wants to make a statement
Two of four wins for Jarred Brooks under the ONE Championship banner have come via finish.
He submitted Lito Adiwang on his debut and after beating Hiroba Minowa in his next outing, secured the tap against Bokang Masunyane also.
Balart hasn't been beaten in his last four outings but he has been stopped once before inside the Circle all the way back in 2019 where he was knocked out by Robin Catalan.
Brooks will be hoping to prove himself as the best in the weight class and a finish would certainly help that.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
