“I'd say he's up there” - Jonathan Haggerty acknowledges Superlek as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters today
Striking superstar Jonathan Haggerty knows he's facing one of the best pound-for-pound fighters today when he steps into the main event of ONE 168: Denver.
That person is the ONE flyweight kickboxing king Superlek Kiatmoo9, who will challenge Haggerty's ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title in a bid to join the exclusive club of two-sport and two-division world champions in the promotion.
Knowing that fact, Haggerty has been preparing extremely well ahead of this massive clash, which also happens to be a rematch after Superlek defeated him via TKO in a Yokkao event back in 2018.
And after such a long time, 'The General' acknowledged Superlek as one of the best in the world, and he's excited for this to happen.
He told South China Morning Post in a recent interview:
"Yeah, I'd say he's up there with the pound for pound, best in the world at the moment. Hence why this fight excites me, and I'm excited to showcase some skill and show why I am the best."
"So, yeah, I'd say I'd put him up there as pound for pound, one of the best at the moment, for sure," he added.
Now, when two of the best strikers in the world collides, it will be a massive spectacle to watch for all striking fans across the globe.

Jonathan Haggerty admits he was still 'finding himself' when he first faced Superlek
After years of not sharing the ring together, Superlek would be wise enough not to think he can walk over Jonathan Haggerty at any point.
'The General' admitted in his YouTube video series dubbed the 'Road to Superlek' that he bit off more than he could chew in his first encounter.
Haggerty said:
"I shouldn't have been in the ring with him. The style wasn't what it is now. I was still finding myself, and what style what I want to use."
Now, Jonathan Haggerty thinks he will get the score even when he locks horns with Superlek at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6.
