"I did more damage" - Luke Lessei says he hurt Jo Nattawut more than Tawanchai did in two matches

After earning his first win under the ONE Championship banner last time out, Luke Lessei is starting to take stock of the top of the division.

The ONE featherweight Muay Thai division has several elite competitors at the top, and the American wants to prove that he belongs in this group.

He learned a lot after his first fight in the promotion against Jo Nattawut, one of the best striking contests to take place in ONE in some time.

In recent times, 'Smokin' Jo has gone up against the world champion, Tawanchai, in two very closely contested fights.

He has watched his former foe and the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion compete against one another and looked to assess how he would fair in those scenarios.

Lessei spoke to Nick Atkin in an interview for Sportskeeda about how he came away from watching these fights feeling like he is more dangerous to them both:

"When like me and my dad watch these fights, we look at is as competition now. So we're looking at the things that Jo and Tawanchai are doing to each other and if that would happen to me if I fought them. And we're like I think I did more damage to Jo than Tawanchai did. So that's a plus and confidence."

Luke Lessei will look to continue building his stock on July 5

Luke Lessei put on an incredible fight against Jo Nattawut where despite losing, he felt like he came away with a victory because of how well the fight was received.

In order to work his way into the top ranks of the division, 'The Chef' needs to keep on winning, and that's what he intends to do at ONE Fight Night 23.

The American stand out faces French striker Bampara Kouyate at Lumpinee Stadium on July 5 in search of securing back-to-back wins.

ONE Fight Night 23 will air live and free at US prime time for North American viewers with an active Prime Video subscription.
