“I defeated a Muay Thai legend” - Kiamran Nabati looks back at career-defining win over the iconic Nong-O Hama
Undefeated Russian Muay Thai fighter Kiamran Nabati arguably the biggest victory of his career last September, when he took out Thai legend and former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai king Nong-O Hama.
Nabati upset the hometown hero to win by unanimous decision on the judges' scorecards after three intense rounds of action at ONE Friday Fights 81: Superbon vs. Nattawut.
It was a stellar performance from the 29-year-old Archangel Michel representative, and he believes he is getting closer to a world title shot in the world's largest martial arts organization.
Nabati told ONE Championship in a recent interview:
"This victory was very important for me because I defeated a Muay Thai legend, and I’ve taken his place in the rankings. Now, I’m third place in the division."
Needless to say, Nabati's victory over Nong-O has definitely boosted his stock, and he could very well be on the cusp of an official berth in the bantamweight Muay Thai division's top five.
ONE Friday Fights 81: Superbon vs. Nattawut took place at the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, last September 27, 2024.

"I want my next opponent to be someone ranked higher than me in the top five. That would be Jonathan Haggerty or Nico Carrillo."
