“I have been designing those myself” - Takeru shares the story behind his cool pre-fight entrance robes

Japanese kickboxing icon 'The Natural Born Crusher' Takeru Segawa isn't just one of the best strikers in the world, pound-for-pound. He's also a passionate fashionista with his own line of designer clothing.

Takeru oozes style and charisma in the ring and is one of the most stylish fighters outside of it. This is evidenced by his glimmering pre-fight drab, which he designed himself.

In a recent interview with the South China Morning Post, Takeru discussed his pre-fight entrance robes and its meaning.

'The Natural Born Crusher' said:

"Since my debut as a pro fighter in K-1, I have been wearing that one, and I have been designing those myself. This one is inspired by the Japanese kimono. My name is actually from a historical figure in Japan, so I want to somehow show Japanese history in my costumes."

Takeru Segawa joined ONE Championship in January when he faced two-division, two-sport world champion 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9 for kickboxing gold at ONE 165 in Tokyo.

Unfortunately, the 33-year-old failed in his bid to capture the ONE world title, losing by a five-round unanimous decision to the Thai megastar.

Now, 'The Natural Born Crusher' is ready to return to action and reinsert himself into the title picture.
