“I eat well all year round” - Jacob Smith says diet for fight camps has never been an issue
ONE Championship flyweight Muay Thai contender Jacob Smith of the United Kingdom prides himself in being a consummate professional. As a martial artist in the world's largest martial arts organization, Smith makes it a point to stay disciplined when training for a big fight, especially where his diet is concerned.
A major factor in competing in ONE Championship is making weight and passing hydration tests, and Smith says it has never been a problem for him.
Speaking to Cageside Press in a recent interview, Smith revealed that he self-manages his nutrition for fight camps, with the help of a close friend. And it has worked out well for him so far.
The 32-year-old Bad Company / Thaifist representative said:
"I eat well all year round. I actually don’t have a nutritionist other than myself and my missus. But Pete Miller, aka @condition.nutrition, he’s a very very good mate of mine. He’s helped me the last two times. He doesn’t give me a nutrition plan for my camp, but he’s just a mate of mine who’d give me help if it’s needed. Like the final bit. But in terms of diet, my diet is spot on all the time."
Needless to say, Smith will need to be at his absolute best if he wants to score a big victory this weekend.
