"I couldn't have gotten the result without them" - Kade Ruotolo credits corner for bonus-winning performance at ONE 169
ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo gave full props to his corner for guiding him to victory over Ahmed Mujtaba at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug' this past Friday, Nov. 8, inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Speaking with Mitch Chilson in the post-fight interview, Ruotolo said:
"We started off with a big shot and finished with the D'Arce. It's our favorite finish and will forever be our favorite finish. Super, super thankful. I have the best corner in the world, I mean, look at my corner - Tye Ruotolo, Tyler Wombles, and Eric Paulson. You can't ask for a better corner. Beyond thankful for them and I couldn't have gotten the result without them today."
Similar to how he fought the sturdy Blake Cooper in his MMA debut at ONE 167 this past June, Ruotolo surprised Mujtaba by trading strikes early on.
The aggressive Ruotolo eventually caught the Pakistani with an overhand right and submitted him via D'Arce choke to claim his second MMA win just over a minute into the fight.
Ruotolo now owns four submission victories in eight total wins under the ONE banner.
Kade Ruotolo correctly predicts his fight with Ahmed Mujtaba
Kade Ruotolo has an uncanny ability to predict his fights, which he displayed ahead of his lightweight MMA bout with Ahmed Mujtaba.
The 21-year-old confidently declared during the ONE 169 pre-fight press conference:
"Same same but different. I'll try to hit him with some good stuff, try not to get hit. Not a whole lot changes, you know. I finished the last fight in the first round, I'm looking to do the same here again."
