“I just felt he was quite strong” - Danial Williams says Banma Douji packed raw unreal strength in their showdown
Australian-Thai fighter Danial Williams got the better of Banma Duoji in their mixed martial arts clash last week. However, he admitted that the Chinese fighter exceeded the expectations he had heading into the contest.
'Mini T' had himself a battle against 'The Prince' in their catchweight (136.25 pounds) showdown at ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II on Oct. 4 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. However, he bucked the challenge, winning by unanimous decision.
In a post-fight interview with combat sports journalist Nick Atkin, Danial Williams shared his thoughts on Banma's performance in their encounter, saying:
"I thought compared to his last fight, he was doing a lot of takedowns against a Muay Thai-styled fighter. So I was expecting him [to do that]. But he's big, man. He missed weight and I just felt he was quite strong."
Check out what he had to say below:
At ONE Fight Night 25, Danial Williams turned to his vaunted striking to dominate Banma in their scheduled three-rounder. He unleashed a number of telling strikes, including ripping hooks, that proved to be to much to keep in step with for his opponent as he went on to book the decision victory.

Danial Williams happy to finally halt slide
Danial Williams was just plain happy to finally return to the win column at ONE Fight Night 25 on Oct. 4 after a rough stretch that saw him lose four straight matches.
He took to Instagram to express his relief while highlighting that the journey was not easy for him and that he was thankful for the all the support he received as he went for a skid-busting victory.
Williams said:
"I just wanna say thank you so much for the support. Finally got the win, it's been a long time coming. I knew I just had to really change my style, I just wanna go in there in MMA but I really had to be patient. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here."
Prior to the win at ONE Fight Night 25, Danial Williams' last victory was in July 2022 over Zelang Zhaxi of China by knockout in the opening round.
