“I just had fun being real out there” - Mikey Musumeci on his venomous verbal tirade at ONE 167
Reigning and undisputed ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion 'Darth Rigatoni' Mikey Musumeci of the United States went completely out of character following his recent victory over fierce rival Gabriel Sousa at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II on Prime Video.
Musumeci scored an emphatic submission victory, forcing a tap from Sousa from a gnarly calf slicer. Afterward, 'Darth Rigatoni' took to the mic to go on a verbal, curse-laden tirade toward Sousa and his team.
Apparently, Musumeci had dealt with trash talk coming from Sousa for long enough, and everything just boiled over.
'Darth Rigatoni' was a guest on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani recently, and had this to say about his post-fight rant:
"I'm learning not to curse as much, even though I just cursed again. I just had fun being real out there. And I'm just excited to keep improving my level of jiu-jitsu grown so much. He got second in ADCC. I'm so excited. And now I have another challenge in September. I just keep going crazier."
Musumeci says he is now moved on, and while he did go off script for a little bit, 'Darth Rigatoni' assures fans it's a one-off kind of thing.
Needless to say, everyone is excited to see him back in action in just a couple of months.
