"I could knock him out” - Ryan Garcia calls for a title clash with Sebastian Fundora in the wake of upset victory over Devin Haney
Sebastian Fundora, who recently defeated Tim Tszyu to become the new WBC and WBO super welterweight champion, has been called out by Ryan Garcia.
'KingRy' stunned the combat sports world on April 20 by handing Devin Haney the first defeat of his professional career. With the pair initially scheduled to clash for Haney's 140-pound WBC title, Garcia missed weight by over three pounds forcing the bout to be rescheduled as a non-title fight.
The 25-year-old appeared in front of the media following his incredible victory over Haney, where he called out Fundora. Surprisingly, the super welterweight's 6-foot 5-and-a-half inch frame doesn't deter 'KingRy' in the slightest, who himself measures at 5-foot 9 inches.
During his post-fight press conference, Garcia said this:
"I had a vision to fight Fundora at 154 [pounds]. I don't know why, I just feel like I could know him out. I know that's really, really random. But I just feel like I could get a title at 154. I've fought guys that big before and I've knocked them out in sparring, cold, slept them. So I want to do it. Shout out Fundora though, no disrespect."

Sebastian Fundora vs. Tim Tszyu rematch has a target date, according to reports
Tim Tszyu and Sebastian Fundora went to war in what could be one of the bloodiest fights of 2024, when the pair clashed for the WBO and WBC titles on March 30.
Tszyu was initially scheduled to take on Keith Thurman at a 155-pound catchweight, but Thurman withdrew from the bout less than two weeks before fight night due to injury.
'The Towering Inferno' stepped up on short notice, and he proved to be a stiff test for the Australian as the pair traded blows for all 12 rounds. Fundora was awarded a split-decision victory, but talks of a rematch were brought up in the immediate aftermath of the fight.
The rematch now appears to have a target date, according to iFL TV, who recently took to X to share the following:
"The highly anticipated rematch between Sebastian Fundora and Tim Tszyu is reportedly being targeted at November in Vegas, dependent on Fundora's recovery from a fractured nose."
