“I know I’ll have it tough” - Two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty expects a stern test against Superlek in Denver

Reigning two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty knows he's in for a tough night when he goes toe-to-toe with one of the greatest strikers on the planet. On Friday, Sept. 6, ONE Championship will make its long-awaited return to the United States when the promotion heads to The Mile High City — Denver, Colorado — for ONE 168.

Emanating from Ball Arena, fight fans will see one of the most anticipated fights in the history of the art of eight limbs. Current ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion will put his 26 pounds of gold on the line against the ONE flyweight kickboxing titleholder, Superlek Kiatmoo9.

Speaking about their upcoming title tilt in The Centennial State, Jonathan Haggerty told Sky Sports MMA Club that he expects to be put through the wringer once inside the Circle with the streaking Thai superstar.

“He’s on a massive win streak," Haggerty said. "He even beat the guy who beat me, Rodtang. So, that’s a massive confidence booster for him. So I know I’ll have it tough.”

Superlek looks to continue his impressive run with a win over Jonathan Haggerty

Superlek had perhaps his most impressive year yet in 2023, earning five incredible victories.

Of course, his most impressive came in September last year when he scored a unanimous decision W against 'The Iron Man' Rodtang at ONE Friday Fights 34. The bout was quickly hailed as the greatest Muay Thai fight of the last 50 years and rightly won ONE Championship's Muay Thai Fight of the Year honors.

'The Kicking Machine' carried over his momentum in 2024, landing a big win against Japanese kickboxing star Takeru Segawa at ONE 165 in Tokyo.

If Superlek can secure a win over Jonathan Haggerty in the U.S., he will undoubtedly establish himself as the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in all of Muay Thai.
