“I like these small gloves” - Kiamran Nabati says ONE’s four-ounce mitts allows him to tap into his true power
Russian standout Kiamran Nabati is a big fan of ONE Championship's four-ounce gloves. While the sport of Muay Thai typically sees fighters wearing the more traditional boxing-style gloves, ONE takes a different approach by having fighters compete in 'the art of eight limbs' with the much lighter four-ounce MMA gloves.
It's a change that has resulted in some of the most incredible knockouts in all of combat sports—and Nabati likes that.
Speaking with the South China Morning Post ahead of his return to the ring at ONE Friday Fights 81 on Sept. 27, Nabati suggested that the smaller gloves allow him to tap into his true power.
"My style uses more hands and movement," Nabati said. "So I think it’s good for me. I like small gloves. I have good boxing. But I’m basically a Muay Thai fighter. I know how I can protect myself, how I can defeat Muay Thai legs. So I like these small gloves."
After three impressive victories in his first three promotional appearances, Nabati will face his toughest test when he meets one of Muay Thai's most devastating strikers.
