“I’ll be looking for them” - Superlek going all out to find faults in Jonathan Haggerty’s game at ONE 168: Denver
With very few holes in Jonathan Haggerty's fight game, Superlek believes his success at ONE 168: Denver will come down to timing.
On Friday, Sept. 6, two of the greatest Muay Thai practitioners on the planet will collide as ONE Championship heads back to The Mile High City for a history-making night of fights inside Ball Arena.
In the main event of the evening, two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty will put his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title on the line against Superlek—the reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing world titleholder.
Looking ahead to their highly anticipated clash, Superlek believes his success will come from not trying to exploit Haggerty's weaknesses, but focusing on his timing.
Speaking to ONE Championship, Superlek said:
“Athletes at this level don’t really have so-called weaknesses. In my opinion, it’s all about the timing. It’s all about the openings, and I’ll be looking for them to finish the fight nicely.”
Superlek rides into The Centennial State on a 10-fight win streak that includes a win over Rodtang Jitmuangnon—the man who beat Haggerty in back-to-back bouts during their iconic flyweight feud.
Superlek and Jonathan Haggerty go into ONE 168: Denver with a pair of impressive streaks
With wins over 'The Iron Man,' Japanese kickboxing legend Takeru Segawa, and Thai prospect Kongthoranee Sor Sommai, Superlek has looked practically unstoppable inside the Circle.
Not to be outdone, Jonathan Haggerty has been on the run of a lifetime since making the move from flyweight to bantamweight. After getting his footing in a fight with Vladimir Kuzmin, 'The General' has landed a trio of nasty knockouts, including an earth-shattering first-round KO against Nong-O Hama last year.
Since then, he's put away ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Fabricio Andrade with a second-round finish and KO'd 'Demolition Man' Felipe Lobo after delivering one of the most epic comebacks of 2024.
Will Haggerty add another jaw-dropping finish to his resume, or will 'The Kicking Machine' become ONE's newest two-sport superstar?
