“I’ll mail you one” - Jarred Brooks promises to gift Joshua Pacio a new TV after beating the Filipino
Former ONE strawweight MMA world champion 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States and reigning divisional king 'The Passion' Joshua Pacio have a long-running inside joke.
The 31-year-old Mash Fight Team representative once made fun of Pacio's TV in the buildup to their first showdown in Dec. 2022, prompting the American to offer to buy 'The Passion' a new set.
Brooks was all ready to give Pacio a new TV before their showdown at ONE 164 in Manila. But 'The Monkey God' ultimately decided against it. He explained what happened in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA.
Brooks said:
"The reason why I don't like to give people sh*t at weigh-ins is because they feel like they already won something and that gives them an advantage. I'm not giving you that advantage, bro. I'm not going to give you something and feel like you won something from me already. That's going to give you that mental capability. I don't know if I overthink too much when it comes down to that sh*t. But, I want to have every advantage mentally, right? Because physically, I already know I have the advantage, right?"
That being said, the next time they meet in the Circle, Brooks is ready to make good on his promise. He concluded:
"So yeah when we're done fighting and when your ACL heals and I beat you again, I'll mail you one."
