“I’ll prove it wasn’t just luck” - Alexis Nicolas says first win over Regian Eersel was no fluke
Alexis Nicolas is determined to prove that his unanimous decision victory over Regian Eersel in April wasn't a fluke.
'Barboza' shocked the world at ONE Fight Night 21, snapping Eersel's eight-year unbeaten streak and taking the ONE lightweight kickboxing world championship back home to France.
Now, the undefeated 26-year-old star is set to defend his title for the first time when he runs it back with 'The Immortal' at ONE Fight Night 25 inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
During a recent interview with Phuket Fight Club, Nicolas offered some insight into his mindset going into the highly anticipated sequel, saying:
"I won the first fight and I’m not here to mess around. I’ll prove it wasn’t just luck, and I’ll let my skills speak. I’ll show I'm one of the best, if not the best kickboxers in the world."
Nicolas goes into his third promotional appearance boasting an unbeaten 24-0 record, including wins over Magomed Magomedov and, of course, Regian Eersel on martial arts' biggest global stage.
Alexis Nicolas ready to make his friends, family, and fans proud at ONE Fight Night 25
Following his stunning upset against 'The Immortal,' Alexis Nicolas has seen his popularity explode. Honored by those who have and continue to support him, 'Barboza' is excited for the opportunity to defend his title and show what he can do in U.S. primetime.
"My fanbase has grown, and it's a true honor. I can't wait to make the French and Thai fans proud as they follow me more. It's truly an honor. I really want to thank you all. I'm far from home.
"[I] left my family and friends to chase my dream and make them proud. This fight will be on major TV networks worldwide."
Will Nicolas score his 25th career win inside the Mecca of Muay Thai, or will Regian Eersel take back the lightweight kickboxing crown and kickstart a new undefeated run?
ONE Fight Night 25 will air live via Amazon Prime Video in the United States and Canada on Friday, October 4, in U.S. primetime.
