“I’ll be straight honest” - Jonathan Haggerty recalls when Felipe Lobo sent him to the canvas
As ONE Championship returns to the United States with ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6 at the Ball Arena, two sport superstar Jonathan Haggerty will be competing in one of its featured fights.
'The General' is slated to defend his Muay Thai belt for the second time against reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing king Superlek Kiatmoo9.
But before that, he had taken some time off at his home in London, United Kingdom, to be with his family and friends, before attending ONE 167 ahead of his training camp in Koh Samui.
In London, 'The General' went as a guest star in Sky Sports MMA Club podcast to talk about his experience against Felipe Lobo, fight with Superlek, and more.
The 27-year-old said:
"So, I’ll be straight honest, when he hit me on top of my head, I’ve never experienced it before, like I saw those planets, literally planets, flashed before me."
He added:
"I said, ‘where did that come from?’ I thought to myself, I fight here, so I just turned it up, and yes, as soon as I sat down in the corner, my trainer sort of put me in level and told me that you needed to get down on this and needed to work properly."
"And that was it, really. Second round, I just went for it."
Haggerty finished Lobo off with his powerful right punch, marking his sixth winning streak after losing his flyweight belt to Rodtang.
