"I had to look at my mistakes" - Regian Eersel says he immediately watched the replay after losing belt to Alexis Nicolas
Regian Eersel is looking to come back stronger when he returns in the main event of ONE Fight Night 25.
'The Immortal' went undefeated for such a long time that we didn't see how he would respond to adversity and setbacks.
Now, that's what he's looking to prove after the shock result that happened earlier this year at ONE Fight Night 21. Eersel was defeated by Alexis Nicolas in the main event, losing the ONE lightweight kickboxing world championship in the process.
With the two men set to run it back on Oct. 4, the former champion is excited to correct the mistakes that he made the first time around.
He spoke in a recent interview with ONE Championship about how he went back to the drawing board after that loss:
"Yes, of course. I had to look at my mistakes. As I said, how do you say critics who say that I criticized myself, you know, and I'm like that. You know, if I make a mistake somewhere, I have to, I want to rewatch it and see what my mistakes are. And, yeah, find the solution, you know? So, yeah, I immediately did it."
Regian Eersel is a perfectionist in the ring
Even though he lost the fight and his world championship, it's not like Regian Eersel had to start from scratch after his loss to Nicolas. The champion was able to rally after being dropped in the second round and made the fight very close down the stretch.
The biggest adjustment has already been made for him heading into this rematch because he won't be surprised by Nicolas this time around at Lumpinee Stadium.
He knows what to expect, and that makes a high-level competitor like Eersel a very dangerous opponent thanks to his years of experience.
ONE Fight Night 25 will air live in US primetime free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in North America.
