“I lost all my power” - Mohamed Younes Rabah reveals why he made the decision to move up to featherweight

Algerian striker Mohamed Younes Rabah knew it was time to make a change after losing his undefeated record in devastating fashion last February.

'The Eagle' revealed he had a rough training camp in his rematch with Saemapetch Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 19. While Younes Rabah already beat the Thai star in their first encounter, he visibly looked depleted in the rematch and lost via TKO in under a round.

Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, the 27-year-old admitted the cut to 145 pounds left him feeling weak:

"I wasn’t enjoying my camp last time. I was eating less and training hard. Then I lost all my power."

Although Mohamed Younes Rabah sports a lanky frame, he stands at a towering 6-foot-2, making him a massive threat at bantamweight.

The Team Mehdi Zatout fighter briefly entered the bantamweight Muay Thai top five after beating former title challenger Saemapetch. However, it appears that his days in the division are over.

Younes Rabah will look to make an immediate impact in his move to the loaded featherweight ranks when he meets Eddie Abasolo at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug'.

Mohamed Younes Rabah sees a lot of weaknesses in Eddie Abasolo's game

This coming Nov. 8 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, Younes Rabah will look to start fresh against the electric Eddie Abasolo.

While 'The Eagle' acknowledges the Filipino-American's flashy and highly entertaining style, he believes those same qualities will be his downfall once they share the ring.

The Algerian standout told ONE:

“He’s very clever, very smart. He has good technique. But I think he is slow and doesn’t have enough power, and he leaves a lot of openings in his guard.”

ONE 169 will air live in US primetime free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in North America.
