“I love this mix of cultures” - Alexis Nicolas says Phuket Fight Club’s cultural diversity has been a ‘fantastic’ addition for his camp
Alexis Nicolas discussed the advantages of training at Phuket Fight Club.
Earlier this year, Nicolas made history by pulling off an upset win against then-ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion Regain Eersel. The undefeated 26-year-old didn't have much time to celebrate before preparing for what's next, as an immediate rematch against Eersel seemed inevitable.
On October 4, world-class lightweights Nicolas and Eersel will headline ONE Fight Night 25 in a highly-anticipated rematch. Heading into his first world title defense, 'Barboza' traveled to Thailand to conduct his training camp at Phuket Fight Club.
Nicolas did an interview on the gym's YouTube channel to discuss his experience. 'Barboza' had this to say about the diversity at Phuket Fight Club:
"At Phuket Fight Club, we’re a camp with mostly Brazilian fighters. But there are a lot of other fighters too. I love this mix of cultures and people. It’s really fantastic. It’s refreshing and it helps me stay calm despite the tough training."
ONE Fight Night 25 goes down inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The October 4 event can be seen live and for free by North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Who else is fighting at ONE Fight Night 25 besides Alexis Nicolas and Regian Eersel?
ONE Fight Night 25 hasn't been finalized, with only a few weeks until showtime. The upcoming event features several intriguing matchups besides Alexis Nicolas vs. Regian Eersel II, including Kongthoranee vs. Tagir Khalilov (flyweight Muay Thai) and Sinsamut Klinmee vs. Youssef Assouik (lightweight Muay Thai).
Meanwhile, a ranked strawweight matchup between Bokang Masunyane and Mansur Malachiev is scheduled for ONE Fight Night 25. Masunyane vs. Malachiev is an important fight for the division, as there aren't any proven title contenders for Joshua Pacio besides interim champion Jarred Brooks.
ONE has confirmed three other fights for the October 4 event: Hiroba Minowa vs. Sanjar Zakirov (strawweight MMA ), Thongpoon vs. Rui Botelho (strawweight Muay Thai), and Ayaka Miura vs. Jihin Radzuan (women's atomweight MMA).
