"I love wars" - Battle-hardened veteran Aung La N Sang reveals why he's not keen on retiring anytime soon
Even at an age when most of his peers are talking about riding off into the sunset, Aung La N Sang doesn't feel the need to drop his sword and shield just yet.
After all, the 39-year-old MMA legend feels he's still at the peak of his powers from a physical standpoint.
Plus, the countless battles he's been in over the years have made him ripe with knowledge, while his warrior spirit still illuminates as bright as it was from day one. At the end of the day, Aung La doesn't see fighting simply as a means to provide. It's just a way of life for him.
'The Burmese Python' explained his burning desire to keep going in a Cageside Press interview:
"It's going to be a tough and hard fight, but I love wars. That's a reason I'm a fighter - I want to feel the war, the violence of a fistfight."
Aung La N Sang will definitely get the action he seeks this coming September 6 in the promotion's US return at ONE 168: Denver at Ball Arena.
The former middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world champion will clash with Turkish buzzsaw Shamil Erdogan in a potential world title eliminator at 205 pounds.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster
Aung La N Sang willing to go through "friend" Anatoly Malykhin to reclaim lost throne
Apart from his passion for cracking skulls, Aung La N Sang's desire to stay in the fight game is also motivated by 26 pounds of gold.
But if 'The Burmese Python' wants to take back his claim as the king of the middleweights, he must challenge a man he considers an ally, Anatoly Malykhin.
"I don't know right now. If the promotion needs a fight that needs to happen, it will happen," he told the South China Morning Post.
"I'm not pushing for it, but I want to be the champion again."
