“I'm not afraid to try to chase a GOAT” - Jarred Brooks guns for dream superfight with Demetrious Johnson

Jarred Brooks has a big dream: going toe-to-toe with one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, Demetrious Johnson.

Furthermore, Brooks is not shy to immediately call out Johnson after claiming the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title with a first-round submission victory over a game opponent in Cuban Olympian Gustavo Balart at ONE Fight Night 24.

Although 'The Monkey God' knew that would be a massive challenge, he did not refrain himself from chasing the MMA GOAT and even putting the superfight as a priority over his title unification fight against old rival Joshua Pacio.

In his post-fight interview with ONE last weekend, Brooks said:

"I'm somebody that goes and tries to go up and beat competition. I climb the mountains, and I'm not worried. I know that GOATS are really good at climbing mountains too, but I'm not afraid to try to chase a GOAT."

Jarred Brooks ready to face another contender while Joshua Pacio recovers

The newly-crowned ONE interim strawweight MMA king Jarred Brooks is tired of listening to Joshua Pacio's name.

Last weekend, at ONE Fight Night 24, Brooks performed exceptionally well when he overcame another challenge in Gustavo Balart, forcing to tap out after nabbing a tight rear-naked choke in the first round of their main event tilt.

And now, while the Filipino superstar is still recovering from his ACL injury, Brooks is willing to face another contender, or even going into a superfight with Demetrious Johnson.

He told ONE in the same interview:

"I'm tired of hearing the same name. It's almost been three years of hearing [the name] Joshua Pacio. I'm glad that I got to go against Gustavo Balart this past time. So thank you ONE Championship for that."
