"I'm an armbar guy" - MMA all-time great Demetrious Johnson shares his favorite BJJ submission
ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson has always been known to be one of the most well-rounded fighters in the history of MMA. His performances inside the circle have proven that he has the speed, timing, and accuracy to make him dangerous on the feet.
However, if there's one area that he truly specializes in, it's the grappling, as proven by his recent ventures into jiu-jitsu tournaments.
On a recent episode of his podcast, MightyCast, Johnson was joined by elite grappler Kade Ruotolo to preview his MMA debut at ONE 167. The debut went very well for the ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion, who submitted Blake Cooper in the first round with a rear-naked choke.
If there's one submission that people will likely think about in connection with 'Mighty Mouse', it's his armbar.
He explained during the podcast why he tends to favor this technique as opposed to a triangle due to his frame:
"I'm an armbar guy. I love armbars. It's easier to constrict somebody's arm with my whole body. But when you try to get a triangle, you get f***ing stacked. I'm an armbar guy."
