“I’m confident about the power” - Jackie Buntan doubts Anissa Meksen can keep up with her elite strength and conditioning
Jackie Buntan doesn't think Anissa Meksen will be able to match her power or conditioning.
For years, Buntan and Meksen have been two of the fiercest female fighters on ONE Championship's roster. On Friday, November 8, the two female warriors will finally go toe-to-toe when they battle for the ONE strawweight kickboxing world title.
Coming off a dominant showing against Martine Michielleto in her last outing at ONE Fight Night 20, Buntan feels as confident as ever and believes she'll be able to outmatch the seven-time titleholder in strength and stamina come fight night.
"I train strength and conditioning three times a week," Buntan told Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview. "I’ve been doing that for, I don’t know, almost 10 years now so I’m confident about the power. I’m not worried about adding, it’s more so keeping that power there."
Overall, Buntan is 6-1 under the ONE banner, her lone loss coming against former ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion Smilla Sundell.
Anissa Meksen brings a big experience advantage to her fight against Jackie Buntan
While Jackie Buntan believes she'll have plenty of advantages over 'C18' at ONE 169, one area where Anissa Meksen is unmatched is experience.
Meksen's appearances in ONE have been few and far between, but the former kickboxing and Muay Thai world champion has more than 100 wins to her credit, including victories over promotional standouts Marie Ruumet, Dangkongfah Banchamek, and Cristina Morales.
'C18' also went five hard rounds with one of the most dominant forces in women's combat sports, Phetjeeja.
Will Buntan's incredible power be enough to carry her to her first ONE world championship, or will Meksen's experience prove to be the difference-maker inside the Mecca of Muay Thai?
