“I’m a different martial artist” - Jarred Brooks vows improved game ahead of world title fight against Gustavo Balart
American superstar Jarred Brooks can't wait to get his hands on third-ranked contender Gustavo Balart in the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title clash.
Slated to headline ONE Fight Night 24 on August 2 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, Brooks is keeping himself busy in his training camp and vows for an improved game plan.
This is indeed crucial, as Balart brings his Olympian wrestling pedigree and powerful striking acumen. And, you can bet that Brooks is ready for all of that.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, 'The Monkey God' shared some updates on his training camp before he flies to 'The Land of Smiles' by the end of July. He said:
"My camp has been going amazing - literally amazing. These past three camps, I’ve never had an incubation process. But now I had an incubation process, I’m out of that now, and now, I’m a different martial artist. I feel amazing."
Brooks added:
"Right now, I feel like I’m at the best I’ve ever been."
With such confidence, we should see a powerful performance from the American, as he aims to reclaim the 26 pounds of gold and secure a trilogy with an old rival, the ONE strawweight MMA world champion Joshua Pacio.
Jarred Brooks checks off his list to fight an Olympian in Gustavo Balart
As a true fighter and renowned household name, Jarred Brooks has always aimed to fight the best of the best.
This particular wish will come true in the main event of ONE Fight Night 24, as he is clashing with third-ranked contender Gustavo Balart for the interim world title.
Balart is one of the contenders that 'The Monkey God' has yet to face, and this will surely check one of the things in his bucket list.
In the same interview, he said:
"I'm super happy to be facing someone with the prowess of his capacity. I mean, bro, he's an Olympian. I don't think I've fought an Olympian so it's gonne be something checked off the list."
ONE Fight Night 24 is available live and free for all Amazon Prime Video active subscribers in the United States and Canada.
