"I'm expecting the worst" - Jonathan Haggerty ready to be put through the wringer against Superlek at ONE 168: Denver
Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion Jonathan Haggerty knows he has himself a war in the main event of ONE 168: Denver.
The two-sport kingpin collides with ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9. Their headline attraction will be a five-round scrap for the Brit's bantamweight Muay Thai throne.
With the pair sharing a near-identical arsenal complete with kicks, punches, knees, and elbows, Jonathan Haggerty knows he has no room for complacency against a fighter of Superlek's pedigree.
Still, he remains as pumped as ever to face arguably the toughest test of his career inside Ball Arena on September 6.
Speaking exclusively to Sports Illustrated, the 27-year-old shared:
"I'm expecting the worst – and a lot of blood. And a lot of elbows. I can't wait."
Though slightly concerned about what the challenger packs, Haggerty is, by no means, selling himself short.
The Knowlesy Academy and Team Underground superstar not only packs a world-class arsenal ready to spring a surprise against the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion.
He'll also be ready to pull the trigger with his potent knockout power – as seen in his last three fights – if the opportunity presents itself in their Denver showdown on September 6.
Jonathan Haggerty still has sights on MMA gold
Two-sport world champion Jonathan Haggerty does not plan on slowing down even after claiming a pair of 26 pounds of gold under the ONE banner.
The Londoner wants a third. In particular, Fabricio Andrade's ONE bantamweight MMA world title.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA's Nic Atkin, he noted:
"If they throw me the contract after this fight, you know, I'd be down to sign it. Like I said, I don't duck anybody."
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available on Ticketmaster. The promotion's return to North America takes place in Ball Arena live in U.S. primetime on September 6.
