"I'm going to get that old man's strength" - Mikey Musumeci confident his jiu-jitsu skills will age like fine wine
Even Mikey Musumeci is wary of old veterans in a young man's sport. While the flyweight submission grappling world champion is currently in his prime, he knows he won't be at the peak of his powers forever.
Still, 'Darth Rigatoni' believes his world-class grappling skills shouldn't deteriorate in old age, since he's not the type to rely overly on athleticism or sheer brawn.
However, Musumeci says he's looking forward to gaining that "old man strength" once he reaches his 40s. The Evolve MMA superstar shared in an interview with Cageside Press:
"I'll probably get even better by then because my game doesn't require athleticism, it's more isometric. So I'm going to get that old man's strength eventually."
Mikey Musumeci is indeed one of the finest tacticians in the world of submission grappling. His incredible fight IQ will only grow sharper the more experience he'll get in the coming years.
Musumeci's unparalleled greatness will once again be in full display on Sept. 6, when he goes up in weight to challenge Kade Ruotolo for the lightweight submission grappling crown.
Don't miss arguably the biggest grappling super fight of the year at ONE 168: Denver at the Ball Arena. Tickets for this historic event are available via Ticketmaster.

Mikey Musumeci thanks Chatri Sityodtong for pushing him to evolve
While Mikey Musumeci already established himself as a star in the BJJ circuit, he says it was Chatri Sityodtong's belief in him that allowed him to reach greater heights.
In the same interview, 'Darth Rigatoni' shared the massive impact that the ONE Chairman and CEO had on him:
"My mentor, Chatri, who's the boss of ONE, I remember he put that in my mind. He always puts a lot of pressure on me to grow as a person. So he really made me believe that, and it made me [reach] another level."
