"I'm going out on my own terms" - Watch Liam Harrison defy doctor's orders in inspiring comeback video ahead of ONE 168
More than a year ago, Liam Harrison was told he wouldn't be able to fight Muay Thai again after destroying every ligament, muscle, tendon, and menisci in his knee. However, now he's getting ready to fight again in Denver at ONE 168.
The 38-year-old superstar recalled the conversation he had with his surgeon last year, suggesting he should quit Muay Thai altogether. But the 'Hitman' would have none of that. Instead of feeling sorry for himself, he worked day in and day out to ease his way back inside the gym and train for a future comeback.
On Instagram, he said:
"ACL tear, basically everything that can go wrong in your knee, went wrong. The surgeon said, 'You're not gonna be able to come back. As strong as you are, you're older now, you've got a great career, I think you should retire.' And I was like, 'Yeah, **** you.'"
Harrison continued:
"I'm not taking orders from anyone. I'm going out on my own terms. I am just as fast, just as sharp, if not sharper and I'm gonna prove that I'm just as ferocious or if not more than I was before."
ONE Championship re-released Harrison's message to the fans on their Instagram page with a caption that had all the fans talking and cheering. The caption read:
"Hitman's" calling the shots. How will Liam Harrison's Muay Thai collision with Seksan end on September 6 at ONE 168: Denver?"
