“I’m in a good place” – Denis Puric expects ‘nothing but title fights’ if he pulls off the upset vs. Rodtang
Denis Puric sees nothing but world title fights in his future should he score a win against 'The Iron Man' on June 7.
After earning an impressive decision victory over Jacob Smith at ONE Fight Night 21 in April, 'The Bosnian Menace' will be tasked with taking on Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a massive flyweight kickboxing clash at ONE 167 in Bangkok.
Speaking with ONE Championship ahead of their highly anticipated scrap, Puric believes a win over Rodtang in kickboxing will put him in a prime position to challenge for the flyweight titles in both four and eight-ounce gloves.
“I like kickboxing. It opens more doors, right? When I beat him in kickboxing, I’ll be ranked #1 in kickboxing. I’m ranked #2 in Muay Thai. I’m in a good place, man. Nothing but title fights after that! I think I deserve that much.”
Currently, Rodtang holds the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship while 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9 reigns as the ONE flyweight kickboxing king.
Will Rodtang put a stop to Denis Puric's momentum at ONE 167?
ONE 167 will be Rodtang's first fight since delivering the Fight of the Year against Superlek in September. 'The Iron Man' came up short in the bout, though the decision was heavily scrutinized by fight fans, with many believing he had done enough to score a win over 'The Kicking Machine.'
Ready to get back to his winning ways, Rodtang will have to go through Denis Puric, a fighter who, like himself, is known for his immense pressure and high-octane style of striking.
Will Rodtang stop Denis Puric's momentum in its track and earn his 272nd career win, or will 'The Bosnian Menace' bag the biggest win of his career and set the stage for a rematch in the art of eight limbs?
ONE Championship fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 167 live and for free via Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime on Friday, June 7.
