“I’m just two fights away” - Undefeated Kiamran Nabati believes he’s inching closer to 26 pounds of gold
Undefeated Russian Muay Thai fighter Kiamran Nabati loves the smell of gold in the morning, and the 29-year-old star believes he is inching ever closer to a shot at the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title with every performance.
Nabati just recently scored a three-round unanimous decision over longtime former king and legendary Thai fighter Nong-O Hama in Bangkok.
The two locked horns at ONE Friday Fights 81: Superbon vs. Nattawut at the historic Lumpinee Stadium on Sept. 27, 2024. And Nabati turned in the performance of a lifetime.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, the Archangel Michel representative says he believes he is only a couple of solid victories away from a crack at the division's throne.
Nabati stated:
"I want to have one contender fight and then fight for the belt. I think I’m just two fights away from the title."
Nabati joined the world's largest martial arts organization in September of 2023, debuting for ONE Friday Fights with an impressive victory over Pongsiri PK Saenchai.
The Russian returned in March of this year to defeat highly regarded Avatar PK Saenchai, before taking out fan-favorite Suablack Tor Pran49 via first-round knockout in June.
His points victory over Nong-O was Nabati's finest in ONE Championship so far.
Kiamran Nabati says constant movement was key against Nong-O Hama: "My goal was to move, not let him hit me"
Unbeaten Russian star Kiamran Nabati believes he was much too elusive for the legendary Nong-O Hama, which earned him his biggest victory yet in ONE Championship.
Nabati bared his game plan with the promotion:
"Throughout the entire fight, I stuck to the strategy we had developed with my coaches. My goal was to move, not let him hit me. I did take some hits, but because I moved a lot, they didn’t land with as much power."
What's next for Nabati? Only time will tell.
