“I’m the killer” - British slugger Jacob Smith says he wants to become the undisputed best striker in ONE Championship

Jacob Smith plans to be the absolute top predator in ONE Championship's shark tank.

The British slugger looks to etch his name on the history books when he faces Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the vacant ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title at the stacked ONE 169 card on Friday, US primetime, at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.

In an interview with Nick Atkin for the Bangkok Post, Smith acknowledged the absolute murderer's row of ONE Championship's Muay Thai and kickboxing rosters.

Smith, however, wants to be known as the undisputed best among those strikers once he's done with his job at ONE 169.

"So ONE Championship, with it being the best striking platform on the planet, that’s exactly what it is. All killers. But I’m the killer," said Jacob Smith.

The 32-year-old is one of the menacing strikers on the planet and he could reach the pinnacle of Muay Thai if he manages to get past Rodtang in Bangkok.

Apart from his quest to obtain that elusive world title, Smith also looks to avenge his debut loss to Rodtang when he arrived at ONE Championship at ONE 157.

Smith had bitten off more than he can chew when he lost to Rodtang in May 2022, but he has since learned from their Singapore showdown.

The Liverpool supporter now looks to become the first person to beat Rodtang in a world title match in ONE Championship and potentially leave Bangkok as the new ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion.

ONE 169 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.

Jacob Smith knows his life's about to change if he captures ONE gold at ONE 169

Jacob Smith, just like all other fighters on the planet, knows that a world title is more than a shiny trinket meant to signify one's status in the sport.

During the press conference for ONE 169, Smith said capturing the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title could secure his family a wealth that he has yet to see in his entire career.

"Yes, I do imagine how my life’s gonna change when I win the belt. The further off from the fight it was, I just wanted to look at the man and wanted to beat the man. But the closer the fight’s getting, I realize when I win the belt, it’s gonna change my family’s lives."
