“I’m kinda at a million miles an hour” - Jarred Brooks says he operates at a higher frequency than next opponent Gustavo Balart
Fiery American fighter Jarred Brooks believes he is far better than upcoming opponent Gustavo Balart and is out to prove that when they collide in Thailand next week.
The former stawweight MMA world champion will vie for the division's interim belt against the veteran Cuban warrior in the headlining contest at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video on Aug. 2 at the famed Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.
In a talk over the FightWave YouTube Channel, Jarred Brooks sized up 'El Gladiador' and shared the mindset he has for the marquee showdown.
The 'Monkey God' said:
"I'm kinda at a million miles an hour, and I take you down, and I hit you, and I try to submit you. But, Gustavo Balart and I are not the same though, as far as mixed martial arts prowess, and I want to show that when it comes to our little tussle on August 2."
Check out what he had to say below:
At ONE Fight Night 24, Jarred Brooks is seeking to redeem himself after losing in his last fight and the ONE strawweight MMA world title to Filipino rival Joshua Pacio in March. He lost by disqualification after performing an illegal slam in the opening round that had Pacio hitting his head first on the canvas.
Bent on frustating him is Balart, who is waxing hot entering the title clash after winning his last four fights.
ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart on Prime Video will be available live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Lito Adiwang sees Jarred Brooks being a handful to Gustavo Balart
Filipino fighter Lito Adiwang seemingly agrees with Jarred Brooks that he can overwhelm Gustavo Balart in their title showdown at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video on Aug. 2, highlighting how the American fighter has everything covered, including the ground game.
'Thunder Kid' shared this in an interview with Sportskeeda MMA when asked for his take on the interim strawweight championship fight. He said:
"Those are the things that I don't see from Balart in this matchup, the submissions. I don't really see, imagine, I don't really see Balart submitting Brooks. On the other hand, Brooks can submit Balart in this fight."
ONE Championship is holding an interim strawweight championship match because reigning world champion Joshua Pacio is out indefinitely because of an ACL injury.
