“I’m a quiet boy” - Two-sport king Regian Eersel says he’d rather let his fists do the talking than spew endless trash talk to build fights
Two-sport world champion Regian Eersel isn't a big fan of talking smack to build up his fights and character.
Eersel is coming off a successful world title challenge to reclaim the ONE lightweight kickboxing world title from Alexis Nicolas at ONE Fight Night 25 this past weekend at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
True to his form, Eersel systematically beat Nicolas down to recapture his kickboxing belt and hold it together with his ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title.
Regian Eersel told Nick Atkin in an interview for the Bangkok Post that even though he has all the right to talk smack against anyone to hype his brand up, such antics were never part of his personality.
The future legend said:
"I’m a quiet boy. I don’t talk a lot, I enjoy fighting. That’s what I do. I’m not creating any noise. Nothing. I’m just here to fight, beat people up, and enjoy the violence."
Eersel is arguably the greatest striker of his generation, and his career stats are worthy of legendary acclaim.
The Surinamese superstar's nine world title wins are second behind only former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Bibiano Fernandes' record of 11 world championship wins in ONE Championship.
Only 31 years old, Eersel is still in his athletic prime and he could very well surpass or at least tie Fernandes' record in 2025.

Regian Eersel plans to defend his Muay Thai throne for a third time
After reclaiming the first world title he won in ONE Championship, Regian Eersel plans to defend his second.
Eersel said in his post-fight interviews at the end of ONE Fight Night 25 that he wants to defend the ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title for a third time.
He said:
"I hope my next fight will be in Muay Thai because the position is waiting for me. It took a long time to defend my Muay Thai belt so I think now it's time."
Eersel first became the ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion when he beat Dutch legend Nieky Holzken in May 2019.
After five straight defenses, Eersel captured the ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title at the expense of Thai star Sinsamut Klinmee in October 2022.
Eersel has since defended his Muay Thai throne against Sinsamut and Dmitry Menshikov, winning by knockout over both in 2023.
