“I’m ready!” - Jonathan Haggerty goes full speed in final stage of his Denver training camp ahead of Superlek mega-fight
It's safe to assume that Jonathan Haggerty is more than ready for the biggest fight of his career.
The two-sport king will defend his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship against fellow world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 in the main event of ONE 168: Denver on September 6 at Ball Arena.
In preparation for his high-stakes and high-altitude matchup, Haggerty decided to hold the final stage of his training camp in the 'Mile High City'.
Haggerty, who also holds the ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title, shared on Instagram how he's been dealing with Denver's unforgiving altitude while preparing for his showdown against the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion.
He posted:
"The mind is ready, the body is ready, I'm ready! #Andstill"
Jonathan Haggerty has been training in Denver for almost a week now, and it seems the British superstar has steadily acclimated to the city's thin air.
'The General' is on an impressive six-fight winning streak since losing the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title to current holder Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
After three straight decision wins over Taiki Naito, Mongkolpetch Petchyindee, and Vladimir Kuzmin, Haggerty embarked on a three-fight knockout streak in his bantamweight world title matches.
Haggerty first knocked out the legendary Nong-O Hama for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title, before adding the division's kickboxing throne to his collection when he stopped bantamweight MMA king Fabricio Andrade in 2023.
He then secured the first defense of his bantamweight Muay Thai strap when he scored a comeback knockout win over Felipe Lobo at ONE Fight Night 17.
Haggerty now aims to add Superlek to his list of victims in ONE Championship.
Tickets for ONE 168 are available at Ticketmaster.
Jonathan Haggerty determined to test himself against Superlek in Denver
Jonathan Haggerty has always fought against the best in ONE Championship, and his next matchup against Superlek Kiatmoo9 is no different.
Superlek is among the best strikers of this generation, and Haggerty can't wait to test himself against the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion.
Haggerty told ONE Championship:
"You know, the opportunity to fight one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. I do believe he's one of the best up there. And just to get the opportunity to step in there with him."
