"I'm not saying he is on EPO" - UFC legend's coach makes eye-opening claim about Merab Dvalishvili's unparalleled cardio

Former UFC double champion Georges St-Pierre's coach, Firas Zahabi, has made an interesting claim about Merab Dvalishvili's unmatched cardio.

The Georgian put on an amazing performance at UFC 311 and took the undefeated record of Umar Nurmagomedov. Dvalishvili, who was behind on the scorecards in the first two rounds, came back to win the last three frames with the help of his insane gas tank.

The cardio of the bantamweight champion is his main weapon and has enabled him to acquire a 12-fight win streak.

The owner of Tristar Gym and the head coach of St-Pierre, Zahabi tried to explain the cardio skills of the Georgian champion. The renowned trainer asserted that he has seen many guys on EPO and none of them had cardio like Dvalishvili.

Zahabi praised the bantamweight champion and matched his gas tank with that of Floyd Mayweather. He said:

"I've seen guys get caught on drugs and EPO who didn't have cardio like him. I'm not saying he's on EPO, I'm just saying like, even if you are on EPO, you just don't have that level of cardio. Likem there's only one other guy I've ever seen with cardio like that and I will tell you it's Mayweather. When he sits on the stool, he doesn't even breathe, and I'm not saying any of these guys are doping. I don't think Mayweather dopes at all or Merab is doping, I'm just saying it's genetic."

Merab Dvalishvili's coach wants him to rest up before stepping into the octagon again

UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili put on an impressive performance in his last outing against Umar Nurmagomedov. The Georgian fighter made the first successful defense of his title against the Russian.

The 32-year-old stated that he was hoping for a quick turnaround following his fight at UFC 311. Dvalishvili is looking to fight two or three more times this year.

But speaking to Sportskeeda MMA, Dvalishvili's coach, John Wood, made a different suggestion:

"I would appreciate it if he could have a couple of months to just, like, chill. And by chill, I mean he's going to be back in here in the next few days training... If we get lined up by May or June, that wouldn't make me mad. April would be a little quick, but May or June-ish feels like we have plenty of time to heal."
