“I’m sorry that happened” - Jarred Brooks wishes a healthy recovery to Joshua Pacio following rival’s ACL injury
Former ONE strawweight MMA world champion 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States and reigning king 'The Passion' Joshua Pacio's fates are intertwined.
With their most recent showdown ending in controversy, everyone knows the two elite fighters will meet again at one point.
However, that may not be anytime soon as Pacio revealed a few months ago that he had suffered a torn ACL and will be out for a lengthy period.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in a recent interview, Brooks sent a message to his longtime rival.
'The Monkey God' said:
"I know Joshua is going to be out with the ACL injury. This just puts a stamp on me beating everybody in the division, including Joshua. I wish nothing but the best for Joshua, I’m sorry that happened at the end of the day."
'The Monkey God' and 'The Passion' first locked horns at ONE 164 in Manila, Philippines. The American star took home a unanimous decision win and the coveted golden belt following a dominant performance.
Brooks met Pacio for the second time in a highly anticipated rematch last March at ONE 166: Qatar. However, the fight ended controversially after 'The Monkey God' spiked the Filipino star on his head, which is an illegal move under ONE Championship's global martial arts ruleset.
Pacio is now currently out due to injury, and there is no timetable for his return.
'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks eyes Demetrious Johnson superfight
Former strawweight MMA king 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks would gladly shove Joshua Pacio to the wayside if he could land a fight with MMA legend and reigning ONE flyweight MMA world champion 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson.
In fact, Brooks has long clamored for a showdown with his fellow American, and he recently reiterated that sentiment.
He told Sportskeeda:
"I think that Demetrious needs somebody like me at the end of the day if he's gonna want another fight."
