“I’m doing things to keep my mind suffering” - Nico Carrillo puts himself through hell to keep his edge in the ring
First-ranked ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title challenger 'King of the North' Nico Carrillo of the United Kingdom takes pride in being the hardest worker in the room.
His insane training regimen has led Carrillo to becoming one of the most dangerous Muay Thai fighters on the planet. But he isn't just a beast in the gym. Carrillo says it's his ironclad mindset that allows him to perform at his best.
In a recent interview with South China Morning Post, Carrillo talked about constantly challenging himself in training camp.
'King of the North' said he's always working:
"I’m staying active. I’m always at the hot locker. I’m doing things to keep my mind suffering. I don’t like to just sit back and just get back doing the hard things. When you sit back and do the hard things, it’s like a shock to the system. So I like to maintain doing hard things, keep challenging myself. When I’m in fight camp, I run in marathons etcetera."
Nico Carrillo is coming off a second-round technical knockout victory over no.4-ranked Saemapetch Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 23 on Prime Video last week. The 25-year-old believes he has cemented his status as next in line for a shot at the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai gold following his victory.
