"I'm not too worried about it" - Superlek says Denver's altitude won't be a problem when he takes on Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168
Testaments of Colorado's altitude affecting fighters' stamina are not deterring the reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 from his quest of becoming a two-sport and a two-division world champion.
Superlek will challenge the current two-sport bantamweight world champion Jonathan Haggerty for this Muay Thai belt on Sept. 6 for the headliner of the loaded ONE 168: Denver card, which goes down at the Ball Arena.
In a recent Instagram post by ONE Championship, 'The Kicking Machine' revealed that he is leaving out this factor from the equation and is confident about his camp for this upcoming megafight, stating:
"I'm not too worried about it [the altitude]. Many people have told me how it can make you tired faster but we've adjusted our training and I'm confident in my preparation."
Aside from the golden opportunity to be a double world champion, Superlek will put his 10-fight win streak on the line as he has never tasted a defeat since Feb. 2021 when Ilias Ennahachi defeated him via unanimous decision.
During this incredible run, the Thai striking sensation has run through some big names such as Daniel Puertas, Danial Williams, Nabil Anane, Tagir Khalilov, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, and Takeru Segawa.
Superlek says that he is working on his way to make his mark in combat sports
Although he is already considered one of this generation's best pure striking talents, the Kiatmoo9 Gym representative is still looking to work his way to make a lasting mark in combat sports.
He says he's still on the way to making a name for himself, especially in the art of 8 limbs. Superlek revealed this during the press conference of ONE 168: Denver, where he said:
"I feel like there are a lot more fighters that have earned more respect than me, but I'm on my way. I'm still working my way and still making a name for myself as well in Muay Thai."
ONE 168: Denver will air live from the Ball Arena in Colorado during U.S. primetime on Sept. 6. Tickets for the event are available on Ticketmaster.
