"I'm not worried in any way" - Johan Ghazali brushes off any signs of concern ahead of Josue Cruz war at ONE 168: Denver
Rising Muay Thai star Johan Ghazali is gearing up for an action-packed flyweight Muay Thai bout at ONE 168: Denver on September 6 as he takes on Josue Cruz inside the Ball Arena.
Speaking exclusively with Sportskeeda MMA, the 17-year-old athlete who fights out of Rentap Muay Thai Gym in Malaysia, opened up about his upcoming battle with the Mahmoudi Gym Mexico product and said:
"I'm not worried in any way about how good [Josue] Cruz is. While I do know what he has to offer me in this fight, I hope he knows what I'm good at too."
'Jojo' took the promotion by storm in 2023 when he put together a five-fight winning streak to kickstart his ONE Championship career. That run included stunning 36-second knockout of Edgar Tabares this past December.
However, the Rentap Muay Thai Gym product's momentum came to a screeching halt this past June after absorbing his first loss under the ONE banner at the hands of Vietnamese star Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat.
Armed with a promise he made to himself after the unanimous decision defeat to 'No.1', fans are eager to see a much improved Ghazali step into the cage at ONE 168 against 'Tuzo'.
Johan Ghazali outlines his advantages ahead of ONE 168
Johan Ghazali knows Josue Cruz will have the advantage of experience in their Muay Thai bout at ONE 168 on September 6 inside the Ball Arena. However, the 17-year-old teenage phenom has complete confidence in his abilities.
In a recent interview with the Borneo Post Online, Ghazali pointed out his advantages, saying:
"My advantages will be my youth, my strength, my energy, my hunger and I will play towards my strengths, and as long as throughout the fight there is no injury or complications, it will be fine."
