“I make sure to have no shortcuts” - Jackie Buntan shares the secret behind her mind-numbing power
27-year-old striker Jackie Buntan doesn't cut any corners when it comes to strengthening her skills.
Following an impressive return to action at ONE Fight Night 20 earlier this year, the Boxing Works product will step back inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand for a high-stakes showdown with seven-time world champion Anissa Meksen.
Buntan and Meksen will battle it out on martial arts' biggest global stage for the ONE strawweight kickboxing world championship at ONE 169 on Friday, November 8.
Buntan goes into the bout as one of ONE Championship's most powerful females on the roster. Offering some insight into how she keeps her iconic power present in every fight, Buntan told the promotion:
“I make sure to have no shortcuts when it comes to strength transitioning into technique. I want to make sure that I’m doing the technique correctly, with full power."
Thus far, Jackie Buntan is a solid 6-1 inside the Circle with 26 career victories to her credit. If she comes out on top at ONE 169, she'll add 26 pounds of ONE Championship gold to her resume for the very first time.
Anissa Meksen looks to break through and claim first ONE world title against Jackie Buntan
Standing in Buntan's way of her first ONE world title is Anissa Meksen, a fighter who knows a thing or two about winning gold.
With more than 100 career wins to her credit and seven separate world championships between Muay Thai and kickboxing, 'C18' is one of the most dangerous strikers in all of combat sports—male or female. Still, a world title under the ONE banner has continued to elude her.
She'll attempt to rectify that inside the Mecca of Muay Thai.
Who leaves The Land of Smiles as the ONE strawweight kickboxing world champion next month?
Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 169: Malykhin vs. ‘Reug Reug’ live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, November 8 in U.S. primetime.
