“I never felt that pain before” - Regian Eersel admits Alexis Nicolas’ calf kicks were out of the ordinary

Regian Eersel admitted that Alexis Nicolas' calf kicks were unlike anything he'd felt before.

This Friday night, 'The Immortal' will try to find a way to avoid getting his leg lit up once again when he meets Nicolas in one of the most anticipated rematches of 2024.

After coming up short against 'Barboza' in April, Eersel is determined to reclaim the ONE lightweight kickboxing world championship when the two warriors headline ONE Fight Night 25 on Prime Video inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Speaking with the promotion ahead of Friday's sequel scrap with the Frenchman, Eersel revealed that while he was not overly impressed with the power in Nicolas' hands, he had difficulty in dealing with the attack on his legs.

"No. When I felt this power, I was like, I can handle this," Eersel said. "The only thing was the calf kicks because I never felt that pain before, you know? So, yeah, to tell you honestly."

Regian Eersel can expect a tough fight in Alexis Nicolas redo

Before his loss to Alexis Nicolas at ONE Fight Night 21 earlier this year, Regian Eersel was riding a 22-fight win streak that dated back an incredible eight years.

He'll look to kickstart a new unbeaten campaign, but he knows that it will not be an easy task against a fighter who has never once known defeat in his combat sports career.

Nicolas goes into his first defense of the ONE lightweight kickboxing crown with a perfect 24-0 record, including two big wins under the ONE Championship banner.

Can 'Barboza' keep his momentum going and prove that his first win over 'The Immortal' was no fluke? Or will Regian Eersel retake the lightweight throne and show the world why he is one of the pound-for-pound greatest strikers on the planet?

ONE Fight Night 25 will air live via Amazon Prime Video in the United States and Canada on Friday, October 4 in U.S. primetime.
