“I have nothing to lose” - Jarred Brooks on his mentality ahead of the ONE interim title fight with Gustavo Balart

Former ONE strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks carries a whole lot of mentality and character into his next effort to reign for the second time. The American superstar is slated to clash with Cuban wrestler Gustavo Balart for the interim title at ONE Fight Night 24 on Aug. 2, and he wants to end the fight early without any assistance from the judges.

Knowing that he has nothing to lose, Brooks will try to overcome the Olympic wrestler's pressure and turn the fight in his direction with his wrestling skills.

Ahead of their main event tilt inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium, 'The Monkey God' sat down with Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview to discuss this upcoming appearance. He said:

"I have nothing to lose. I have nothing to worry about heading into this fight. I just want to go out there and put on a show and I want to be a statement to the people in America as well, that you can do anything in the world."
"So, putting on a show and representing America, that’s what I want."

Knowing how Brooks has been a menace in this division, it is a certainty that this upcoming headliner will be fast-paced and filled with highlight reels.

Jarred Brooks wants a quick night against Gustavo Balart

American superstar Jarred Brooks is aiming to make another statement with a quick finish over his next opponent Gustavo Balart.

Although 'The Monkey God' will have five rounds ahead of him for the interim title to headline ONE Fight Night 24 on Aug. 2, he will not waste his time to face constant pressure from Balart, as he said in the same interview:

"I wanna get it done in the first round. The less time I'm in there, the less damage I accumulate and the more shine I can get to get better. So yeah, I'd love to get it done in the first if not the third or the fourth."
