“I had nothing” - ‘Reug Reug’ reveals he was battling with sickness when he outclassed ‘Buchecha’ in Bangkok scrap

There was no stopping Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane when he took on Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida in Bangkok, not even a severe case of stomach flu.

Kane revealed in a recent interview with ONE Championship that he was almost at wit's end when he took on 'Buchecha' in their heavyweight showdown at ONE Fight Night 13 after a strange case of stomach pains.

The Senegalese wrestling machine said he threw up mere moments before he took the ring at Lumpinee Stadium, leaving him practically without any energy to fight the 17-time BJJ world champion.

'Reug Reug' said:

"Yeah, but in that fight, I was sick. When I was warming up, I ate a banana and after that everything came out of my mouth. I had no energy, I had nothing."

Despite his excruciating condition, Kane pulled off a hard-fought unanimous decision win against the BJJ legend.

Kane even operated at an intense pace that even smaller welterweights would be hard-pressed to maintain for three full rounds.

His win over 'Buchecha' marked, arguably, Kane's biggest win, but he's now set to face the man no person in MMA even came close to threatening.

Kane will challenge three-division MMA world champion Anatoly Malykhin for the ONE heavyweight MMA world title in the main event of the stacked ONE 169 card on Nov. 8 at the historic Lumpinee Stadium,

ONE 169 is ONE Championship's final numbered event of the year and is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.

'Reug Reug' confident he can trade haymakers with Anatoly Malykhin at ONE 169

It's never a good idea to trade leather with Anatoly Malykhin, but Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane feels he can hang with the three-belt king.

Malykhin is 6-0 in ONE Championship, with all six wins coming via knockout.

Kane, though, is unafraid to stand and bang with the Russian knockout machine:

"No. Never! Look at my hand. I have a big hand. It has big power. I’m not scared of anybody. You try to kill me, I’m going to kill you. That’s it. This is the life of a fighter. It will be a very hard fight," said Kane in an interview with ONE Championship.
