“I now have the lessons learned” - Stephen Loman hopes he can run it back with John Lineker down the line
Second-ranked ONE Championship bantamweight MMA contender Stephen Loman of the Philippines wants nothing more than to run it back with former bantamweight MMA king John Lineker of Brazil.
Loman lost a three-round unanimous decision to Lineker at ONE Fight Night 14 on Prime Video last Sept. 2023. In that fight, 'The Sniper' failed to get going on the offensive end, as Lineker dominated in the stand-up and ground exchanges.
Although the Filipino survived the ordeal, he put in a disappointing performance that left a lot to be desired. Still, the Lions Nation MMA standout wants another crack at 'Hands of Stone' sometime in the future.
He told Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview:
"Next time, I hope when we have a rematch, I now have the lessons learned."
Loman will have to wait a little bit for Lineker, as 'Hands of Stone' is set to take on a new challenge in his career.
Lineker will make his Muay Thai debut in ONE Championship when he steps into the Circle with the United States' Asa Ten Pow at ONE 168: Denver, which broadcasts live from the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado on Friday, Sept. 6.
Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action live and absolutely free on Amazon Prime Video. Tickets to watch live in-stadium are available at Ticketmaster.
Stephen Loman says John Lineker has underrated kicking game: "I felt those heavy kicks"
Filipino star 'The Sniper' Stephen Loman says fans should not underestimate 'Hands of Stone' John Lineker in Muay Thai because the Brazilian star has a very underrated kicking game.
He told Sportskeeda MMA:
"Yes, he has heavy kicks actually. When we fought, I felt those heavy kicks. His body shots are also heavy, especially those hooks of his. Those are his biggest weapons, really."
