"I remember pushing the ref out of the way" - Jonathan Haggerty recalls career-defining KO sequence over the great Nong-O
Two-sport ONE world champion Jonathan Haggerty has had plenty of memorable finishes in his distinguished career. However, it's his superstar-making knockout over the iconic Nong-O Hama that holds a dear place in his heart.
The challenger Haggerty entered as a massive underdog against the Thai icon back when they shared the ring at ONE Fight Night 9 last year.
'The General' left a lot of jaws on the floor when he floored the longtime bantamweight Muay Thai king twice with under a minute left in round 1.
Being the apex predator that he is, Jonathan Haggerty didn't let the opportunity pass and went straight for the kill.
The British slugger recalled his epic performance in a clip called Retrospect on his YouTube page:
"When I saw him wobbling, I pointed it out. [I was on him] like a rash. I needed to be on him. I couldn't believe it. I actually heard 10 seconds left on the round. So I thought, I need to knock him out now, or else he's going to recover. Although that's his goal to recover."
The bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing king continued:
"I think I remember pushing the ref out of the way and telling him, 'Let me go'. There was no defense there for me, just a straight attack."
