"I had a rock solid chin" - Liam Harrison concedes it's time to walk away after losing his durability

While his mind and spirit are still willing, Liam Harrison acknowledges that his body can no longer handle the grind of combat sports at the highest level.

'Hitman' announced his retirement in the aftermath of ONE 168: Denver on Friday, Sept. 6, where he lost via TKO against Seksan Or Kwanmuang at Ball Arena.

While age and injuries played a big factor in his decision, the 38-year-old admitted that his inability to now absorb damage made him realize it was time to walk away.

Apart from his explosive strikes and fan-friendly marauder style, Harrison made a name for himself in 'The Art of Eight Limbs' through his granite chin and never-say-die attitude.

Speaking during the ONE 168: Denver post-event press conference, the British star recalled how tough he was early in his career:

"I thought to myself, I can’t get through this one. The thing is, in my 20s, I had a rock-solid chin, I stood toe-to-toe with Anuwat, the hardest puncher of this era and I beat him. I went, I took prime Saenchai right to the wire in an amazing fight, I had a great fight with him and took all the best shots."

Liam Harrison continued:

"I fought all the heaviest punchers from around Europe, and I could walk through their shots when I was in my prime and a bit younger."

'Hitman' said during the post-event press conference:

"It is what it is, I'm so grateful that I just [got] the chance. Even though I didn't win tonight, just the chance to have the craziest fights, the Muangthai fight, the Rodlek fight, and this fight tonight. Even though I didn't win, the thing I still got in abundance, I still have my heart."
