"I have to be sharp in all areas" - Mayssa Bastos bringing her A-game to end Danielle Kelly's reign at ONE Fight Night 24
Mayssa Bastos won't be leaving any stone unturned during her preparations for ONE Fight Night 24.
The Brazilian competitor is no stranger to high stakes and has won just about everything that she possibly can.
Despite this wealth of high-level experience that she has accumulated in her career, Bastos knows better than to underestimate any opponent, let alone a world champion.
She is set to return to ONE Championship on August 2 to challenge Danielle Kelly for the ONE atomweight submission grappling world championship.
Bastos has been spending time analyzing her opponent before this contest and believes that in order to come away with the win, she must be ready for everything.
She spoke in a recent interview with ONE Championship about how relying one on skill set will not be enough to leave Lumpinee Stadium with the title:
"She likes to attack legs more. But, I think I have a good top game. I play guard well and I can also pass guard well... I have to be sharp in all areas."
Mayssa Bastos can rely on her experience in this contest
Danielle Kelly can't be overlooked, but the atomweight champion simply can't match the experience and accolades of Mayssa Bastos.
She finds motivation in the underdog role but her opponent is the favorite for a reason.
At just 26 years old, there's not much left for Bastos to do that would give her a new experience in the grappling world.
Winning a world championship in ONE is one of her career's final frontiers, but she will still be using all of her collected experience come fight night.
Kelly may be the defending world champion, but Bastos has been there and done it all before, which gives her the advantage in this match-up.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
