“I take accountability” - Mikey Musumeci apologizes for behavior after tapping out Gabriel Sousa

Reigning and undisputed ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion 'Darth Rigatoni' Mikey Musumeci of the United States turned in yet another electric performance last weekend, when he submitted former adversary Gabriel Sousa of Brazil at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II on Prime Video.

Musumeci made it look like easy work against the IBJJF world champion, tapping Sousa out with an excruciating calf slicer in front of a sold-out crowd at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand last Saturday, June 8th.

Following the victory, Musumeci went on a verbal tirade against Sousa on the mic in his post-fight interview with veteran ONE broadcast analyst Mitch 'The Dragon' Chilson. The brief display of anger was unlike Musumeci, and 'Darth Rigatoni' took the time to apologize to the fans for his rant.

Speaking at the official ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II post-event press conference backstage, Musumeci said his words were said in the heat of the moment.

'Darth Rigatoni' stated:

"First of all, I want to apologize for how emotional I was. It’s not like me to be that extremely emotional, and I take accountability for that, and I’m constantly trying to learn and grow as a person, right? So I had a lot of emotions and I just let it out, right? So sorry guys about that."
