“I think the fight will end in submission” - Mayssa Bastos confident she’ll be able to finish Danielle Kelly
Brazilian contender Mayssa Bastos looks very sharp and ready to roll ahead of her crucial ONE atomweight submission grappling world title fight at ONE Fight Night 24.
Challenging the reigning queen Danielle Kelly on August 2, Bastos wants to showcase all of her submission skills to end the night early.
However, Kelly is not an easy target. She is coming into their clash with three fight winning streak and an edge in terms of experience and familiarity with ONE's ruleset.
Nonetheless, Bastos still wants to leave the iconic Lumpinee Stadium with 26 pounds of gold and after getting that unforgettable submission finish, as she shared to ONE Championship in a recent interview.
She said:
“I think the fight will end in submission – at least that will be my goal from start to finish. I don’t know where the submission will come from, but I give you the certainty of seeking control of the fight until the submission.”
That is also the reason why Bastos is doing everything she could to analyze her opponent and be ready for anything.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in U.S. primetime free of charge for Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Danielle Kelly vows to prove herself over Mayssa Bastos
Indeed, Mayssa Bastos is one of the most technical grapplers in BJJ at the moment, and Danielle Kelly will not expect nothing less.
In an interview with Home of Fight, the reigning queen mentioned that Bastos will be a difficult puzze to solve, as she will come with a very specialized skillset.
Knowing the elite nature of her opponent, Kelly said:
"This is going to be a pretty competitive matchup, you know. I want to prove myself always."
And for that reason alone, ONE Fight Night 24 will provide the atomweight submission grappling queen with the opportunity to break her own limitations.
