"I think Logan Paul is going to beat him" - Top analyst explains why Conor McGregor would lose to 'The Maverick' in a potential boxing match

Conor McGregor once again made headlines after he claimed on his X account that he is in talks for a boxing fight against Logan Paul in India.

In the potential matchup, analyst Stephen A. Smith is backing Paul to secure a win over McGregor. He dismissed the Irish fighter's chances and explained the reasons behind his support for Paul.

Smith discussed McGregor vs. Paul during his segment on ESPN's First Take, predicting that Paul would win easily due to his greater boxing experience. The renowned broadcaster emphasized that McGregor's accomplishments in UFC wouldn't necessarily translate to success in the boxing ring.

Smith said:

“I think Logan Paul is going to beat him. I don’t think that Conor McGregor is a boxer; he’s a striker. So, he’s sitting up there, and he ain’t even throwing his jab. He’s pitter-pattering. You ain’t clipping Paul like that. You’ve got to do more than that.

He continued:

“We don’t know yet (which size gloves they’re using), but it doesn’t matter. Unless it’s pillows like 16 or 18 ounces, it ain’t going to work. I just think that Paul is bigger, he’s a more experienced boxer… Those big muscles are going to make you a bit slower, and you’ve got to remember that Conor had quickness, he could catch you quick and clip you. That’s not going to be the case in the boxing ring.”

McGregor's solitary boxing fight came against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a 12-round fight. He suffered a loss in the 10th round via technical knockout.

Ariel Helwani validates the possibility of a Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul boxing fight

MMA journalist Ariel Helwani explained how a boxing bout between Conor McGregor and Logan Paul is possible. He pointed out that the parent company of both WWE and UFC is the same, and such a fight could be highly lucrative for business. Helwani said:

"Now you maybe asking yourself , 'Okay how is this possible? How could Logan Paul compete against Conor McGregor in a boxing match?' Logan Paul is a WWE competitor... Conor McGregor is a UFC fighter. Well then you quickly come to the realization that the parent company of WWE and UFC is TKO. So they are all under the same umbrella. Very easy to get done."
