"I treat it like a practice" - Jarred Brooks on his mindset to bounce back from tough setbacksĀ
Jarred Brooks has accomplished some great things in his career but that doesn't mean he has never faced adversity in his life. 'The Monkey God' hasn't made it to where he is today without having the correct mindset to help him overcome the challenges that are put in front of him.
That being said, there isn't much that could prepare him for what took place in his last appearance under the ONE Championship banner.
Though Brooks wasn't on the end of the accidental slam that caused a sudden end to his rematch with Joshua Pacio, it was still a tough moment for him.
The then-ONE strawweight world champion was stripped of his title after what he believed was an unintentional spike and watched as Pacio was treated with medical attention following the scary moment at ONE 166: Qatar.
In a recent appearance on the ONE on SK Podcast, Jarred Brooks spoke about how he overcomes tough moments, taking lessons from his career and life and applying them in the same way:
"Well, the things is, in life, I treat it like a practice, right? So, if you get hit a certain amount of times, you're going to be tired, and it's about mental ambiguity, you have to go in there and just be like, you know what, f**k it dude. Even if I get hit, how tired I am, I'm just gonna keep on coming forward and I think that's what a true champion does, and I think that I am a true champion."

Jarred Brooks will come back stronger from this moment
Losing his title via disqualification inside the Lusail Sports Arena at ONE 166: Qatar has only made Jarred Brooks more motivated to reclaim his throne and prove that he is the best strawweight in the division.
A trilogy fight with Pacio is absolutely on the cards but the current champion's recent injury has pushed the potential date for this back significantly.
Brooks isn't the kind of fighter to sit and lick his wounds, after all. So you can be sure to see 'The Monkey God' back in his kingdom where he belongs soon.
